With effect from 03 March, South African passport holders will require a visa in order to visit or transit the United Kingdom. Until mid-2009, South Africans who have previously traveled to the UK on their current passport will be exempt from the visa requirement.

Have a grandparent born in the United Kingdom
Channel Islands and Isle of Man
Grandparent born in what is now the Republic of Ireland
Aged 17 or over
